THE EXPANSION OF HEALTH SCIENCES AT CURTIN MAURITIUS
Our healthcare and nursing programs extensively utilise state-ofthe-art clinical simulations and immersive technologies, creating
a realistic and safe practice environment on campus. A signi昀椀cant
advantage of these simulations is the instant feedback they provide,
allowing students to immediately understand the implications
of their decisions and actions, especially when simulations are
captured on video and played back. This process helps students
develop critical thinking skills, gain con昀椀dence in their practice, and
better prepare for the workforce.
Work Integrated Learning opportunities are central to all our
programs, particularly for our nursing students, who each spend
1hours
,200
of clinical
placement
1,200 hours in clinical placements across public hospitals, private
clinics, and community health settings. These placements enable
students to apply their knowledge and practice skills in real-world
settings under the supervision of their preceptors and clinical
facilitators. Similarly, our pathology collection students gain
hands-on experience at phlebotomy collection centres, practicing
their newly learned skills under the guidance of experienced sta昀昀.
Master’s students in Applied Psychology have the opportunity
to work extensively with registered psychologists in centres and
NGOs approved by the Allied Health Practitioner Council (AHPC).
The expansion of our Health Sciences in collaboration with
Curtin University and TAFE Australia, is a signi昀椀cant step towards
addressing the healthcare workforce shortage. Our comprehensive
programs, cutting-edge training methods, and extensive practical
experiences ensure that our graduates are well-prepared to meet
the demands of the healthcare industry and make meaningful
contributions to the community.
